1910 - 1919 A view taken from Windsor Reserve, Devonport (formerly Admiralty Reserve), looking north towards Mt Victoria. Featured landmarks are the band rotunda (designed by Edward Bartley), the fire bell tower, the Devonport Borough Council Chambers and businesses on Victoria Road. The signalman's cottage (now the Michael King Writer's Center) can be seen half way up the slope of Mt. Victoria, directly below the navy buildings on the summit. The Devonport Primary School is just above and to the right of the rotunda roof. The official opening of the band rotunda, erected by the Devonport Borough Council in the Admiralty Reserve to commemorate the Coronation of King George V, took place on Saturday, 18 November, 1911. It was later moved from this site to a section of the reserve between Flagstaff Terrace and King Edward Parade, and was demolished in 1948.
