Beethoven Sonata Op. 2 no. 3 in C major

A grand and brilliant sonata composed in 1795 and dedicated to Haydn, that seems to have been written with an orchestra in mind. It is virtuosic and humorous in style and contains four movements. The first movement has a long written-out cadenza and the second movement begins in E major.

According to Ludwig van Beethoven 47 Piano Pieces published by Konemann Music Budapest published 1998 ‘the sonatas are Beethoven’s musical diary; he wrote the first one when he was only 13 and the last one five years before he died’.
