There is little information available on the internet about the Fritz Kuhla piano. One account states that the first Fritz Kuhla piano was built in 1872, another account says it was 1875. These pianos were made in Berlin and the case of the piano was often a work of art pre-WW1. Either side of the piano’s name could be representations of the awards and medallions that the company won. According to one account the company was taken over by Euterpe pianos, the parent company being C. Bechstein. At one time numerous Fritz Kuhla pianos were brought into New Zealand. The bulk of the advertising that can be found on PapersPast is post-WW1 up until the 1940s.
