An early set of ABRSM certificates

I have a set of three ABRSM School Examinations certificates, all for the same person, Ivy Cole. One is for the Primary Division for Pianoforte in 1918, another for the Elementary Division for Pianoforte for 1919 and one for Grammar of Music, Division I, also in 1919.

The Grammar of Music certificate looks to be completely original however the other two possibly could have been stuck on cardboard. Or, this could be what they were like in their original form.

The name of the school is Carisbrooke House, and on each certificate, Ivy Cole is a pupil of ‘A Sister of Providence’. On a little investigation, Carisbrooke House was a school at the Convent of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, in High Street, Newport. It is now a Health Centre. Ivy Cole, who was born in 1906, is shown in the 1911 Census as living in Gurnard on the Isle of Wight, which is 4.5 miles from Newport.
